Unlock your authentic voice as an artist. Find the truth in each character you play. Own the story you’re singing! Final product: two edited videos with authentic, honest performances to add to your reel.

The most common mistake by almost all singers (yes even you, professionals) is that they learn and coach a song vocally, but they never truly take or make the time to work with a director and musical director together to explore WHY they’re singing the words and unlock their authentic voice while they discover what they personally have to say about it.

It’s the absolute difference between booking the job and NOT…

Tuition: $375

Location: Open Jar Studios - 1601 Broadway, 11th Floor (on 48th Street btw Broadway/8th Ave)

CLASS DATES: THURSDAYS (6:30-9:30pm)
Oct 3, Oct 10, Oct 17, Oct 24 and
MONDAY, Oct 28 - individual 30 minute video recording sessions

5 Sessions - 3hrs. per class (max enrollment size, 8 students)
Each student will have approx. 20 min per class of individualized coaching time while others watch & participate in observational discourse and learning.

Weeks 1 & 2: work creatively with EMO & Kevin on a song you’ve prepared and chosen to bring.
Weeks 3 & 4: work creatively with EMO & Kevin on a song THEY chose for you to add to your repertoire (assigned by Week 2)
Week 5: each student will book a 30 min time slot (6pm-10pm) to run thru & video record both songs to be professionally edited for your reel and online submissions.

Submit your headshot and resume ASAP to apply for class enrollment. Limited space available! Online credit card, PayPal or Venmo payment options available. $150 deposit due upon enrollment to hold your space. (Remaining $225 must be paid in full by October 1st)

EMO SANCHEZ is a NYC based stage director, playwright/lyricist, Equity actor, acting coach and teaching artist. He is the Founder & Producing Artistic Director of Three Act Theatre Company and is currently directing and developing a new musical, The Curious Contents of Christie’s Wastebasket, for the Emerging Artist Theatre New Works Series at TADA! Theater in NYC. He’s most recent original musical A Brand New World had it’s NYC run at Theatre Row in July 2018.

KEVIN A. SMITH is a NYC based professional music director, vocal coach and teaching artist. Most recent work includes Next To Normal, A Chorus Line, A Little Night Music, Fully Monty, Gypsy, Urintown, Cabaret, and numerous productions of Into The Woods and Mamma Mia around the country. He will be musical director for The Sound of Music at Northern Stage this holiday season.
